Liverpool manager Arne Slot could achieve an unprecedented Premier League feat when the Reds host Nottingham Forest in Saturday's Premier League showdown.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot could write a new page of Premier League history when the Reds host Nottingham Forest in Saturday's Anfield contest.

The former Feyenoord head coach has enjoyed a splendid start to life in the Merseyside hotseat, overseeing three wins from his first three games before the September international break.

Following a 2-0 success over Ipswich Town and an identical win at home to Brentford, Liverpool upped the ante away to Manchester United, demolishing Erik ten Hag's men 3-0 at Old Trafford.

Should the Reds also come up trumps against Forest with a clean sheet in tow, Slot would become the first manager to win each of their four Premier League matches without conceding a single goal.

While that feat has never been achieved by a head coach in their first Premier League season before, two clubs - Manchester City and Chelsea - have won their first four games without conceding in previous seasons.

Liverpool out to match Chelsea, Man City feats

The Blues were the first team to do so in the 2005-06 season, where Jose Mourinho's side incredibly won each of their opening six games without conceding before a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in gameweek seven.

Ten years later, Manuel Pellegrini's Man City were victorious in each of their first five games of the season while keeping a clean sheet each time, before losing that record in a 2-1 home loss to West Ham United.

However, both Mourinho and Pellegrini had already had at least one season in the Premier League before achieving such an exceptional statistic, and head-to-head history suggests that Slot has a high chance of becoming the first managerial debutant to do so.

Indeed, Liverpool have managed to avoid defeat in each of their last 27 home games against Nottingham Forest in all competitions, and they have come up trumps in each of their last six Premier League matches versus the Garibaldi at Anfield.

Furthermore, the Reds emerged victorious in both matches last season while keeping clean sheets on both occasions, following up a 3-0 home win with a fiery 1-0 triumph at the City Ground.

Mohamed Salah could equal Daniel Sturridge record

As well as Slot's managerial record, wing wizard Mohamed Salah could achieve a goalscoring feat only managed by one Liverpool player in the past, as he endeavours to score in each of the Reds' first four games of the season.

The 32-year-old has netted once against all of Ipswich, Brentford and Man United so far, as well as laying on three assists, and only Daniel Sturridge has ever scored in the first four games of a Premier League season for Liverpool.

The Englishman's Reds first came in the 2013-14 campaign, where he netted against Stoke City, Aston Villa, Man United and Swansea City before ending the season with 22 top-flight goals overall.

Salah has made headlines for off-field reasons rather than his goalscoring exploits in recent weeks, though, having claimed after the Man United win that he is playing the 2024-25 season as if it is his last at Liverpool.

The ex-Chelsea winger is out of contract this summer, and his agent recently added fuel to the fire with an explosive social media statement, but he is thought to be keen to stay on for a little while longer.
