Jurgen Klopp backs Mohamed Salah to rediscover goalscoring form

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp backs Mohamed Salah to rediscover his goalscoring form following a third consecutive blank from the Premier League's top scorer.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has backed Mohamed Salah to rediscover his goalscoring form.

The Egyptian winger has enjoyed a scintillating first season at Anfield, scoring 43 goals across all competitions including a record-equalling 31 in the Premier League.

However, Salah has failed to find the back of the net in his last three outings across all competitions amid concerns that fatigue could be catching up with him, but Klopp played down the dip in form following another blank - and a yellow card for diving - in this afternoon's 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

"[The break] will help all of us. But [Salah] has played now twice against former teammates. It was the same against Roma. Before the game they are very friendly, with hugs here and hugs there, but during the game... It was the same with [Antonio] Rudiger today," Klopp told reporters at his post-match press conference.

"I think it was a dive, or he waited for the contact, I'm not sure. Obviously that's not what I want to see and it's not what he wants to do, but in that situation he didn't get any foul at all, and that's not right as well.

"He can do much better, and he will score again, but today was not a game for [him]. There was no space - and he can play with no space - but not today."

Salah now has just one game remaining to set a new mark for the most goals in a 38-game Premier League season, with Liverpool closing their domestic campaign against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
