Rampant Liverpool ease to pre-season victory

Two goals in either half see Brendan Rodgers's Liverpool record a 4-0 pre-season friendly victory over Thailand in Bangkok.

Liverpool made a positive start to their pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia thanks to a 4-0 victory over Thailand in a rain-drenched Bangkok this afternoon.

It took the Merseysiders just three minutes to break the deadlock through Lazar Markovic, who having latched on to Joao Carlos Teixeira's pass rounded home goalkeeper Warut Mekmusik to roll the ball into an unguarded net.

Warut then proved to be a stubborn figure between the posts as he denied Teixeira, Danny Ings and Jordan Rossiter, while summer addition Ings also had a 24th-minute goal ruled out for a foul by Mamadou Sakho on the Thai goalkeeper.

However, Sakho made amends in the 42nd minute when he guided his downward header from a Teixeira corner inside the post to double Liverpool's advantage.

Manager Brendan Rodgers changed his entire lineup during the break, but that did not loosen his side's stranglehold on proceedings.

It was Adam Lallana that added a third goal in the 52nd minute when he fired a low shot into the bottom corner of the net, having inherited possession courtesy of a rabona pass from new captain Jordan Henderson.

As the match wore on, the visitors continued to carve out opportunities at frequent intervals, many of which fell for Divock Origi.

The Belgian striker, who joined the Reds 12 months ago but spent last season on loan with Lille, hit the woodwork on two occasions and also saw a goalbound effort thwarted by replacement Thailand goalkeeper Anusit Termmee.

The 20-year-old did manage to get his name on the scoresheet three minutes from time when he powered in a header from a Henderson corner.

Next up for Liverpool is a clash against A-League side Brisbane Roar on Friday.
