The 20-time English champions will be aiming to bounce back from successive defeats in England's top flight when they head to the Etihad Stadium for the latest instalment of the Manchester derby.
Man United have been beaten by Arsenal and Nottingham Forest in their last two league encounters, but they have not lost three in a row in a single season since December 2015 under the management of Louis van Gaal.
Meanwhile, Amorim has not lost three league matches in a row in his top-flight managerial career, so there could be some unwanted history for the Portuguese in Manchester this weekend.
The 39-year-old had a record of 164 wins, 34 draws and 33 losses from his 231 matches in charge of Sporting Lisbon, while he also managed Casa Pia and Braga in the early stages of his coaching career.

Amorim has a record of three wins, one draw and two defeats from his six matches in charge of Man United, with the team scoring 12 goals and conceding nine since his arrival as head coach.
Two of those successes have come in the Europa League, with the 20-time English champions now in a strong position to advance to the next round of the competition.
Man United have beaten Bodo/Glimt and Viktoria Plzen in their last two European matches to move into seventh spot in the Europa League table, one point ahead of eighth-placed Rangers, with the pair set to lock horns next month.
Amorim's Premier League record is one win, one draw and two defeats, with the Portuguese being made aware of the size of the task facing him in the early stages of his time at the club.
The Red Devils are currently down in 13th spot in the Premier League table, eight points behind fourth-placed Manchester City in the race to qualify for next season's Champions League.

After facing Man City in the Manchester derby, Man United will head to London next week to tackle Tottenham Hotspur in the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup.
The team will then welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford in the Premier League on December 22, before travelling to Wolverhampton Wanderers and hosting Newcastle United in their final two league matches of 2024.
January will then open with a trip to Liverpool to tackle Anfield, before switching their attention to the FA Cup, with the Red Devils heading to Arsenal in the third round of the competition on January 12.
