Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says that he would have no hesitation in returning to Manchester United as head coach.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he would have no hesitation in returning to Manchester United as head coach if the Red Devils came calling for him.

The 51-year-old has been without a position since being sacked by Man United in November 2021 following a 4-1 defeat to Watford in the Premier League.

There have been links with clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, but Solskjaer has not returned to the hot-seat since his dismissal from the 20-time English champions in the early stages of the 2021-22 campaign.

The future of current first-team head coach Erik ten Hag continues to be called into question due to the team's underwhelming performances in the early stages of this season.

Solskjaer has said that he would "say yes every day of the week" if the Red Devils got in contact to offer him the chance to return to Old Trafford for a second spell at the helm.

Solskjaer opens door to Man United return

"If the family [United] asks, I would say yes every day of the week," Solskjaer said in a Q&A at the Oslo Business Forum. "It feels wrong to talk about jobs that other people have now, but I would say yes, of course."

Solskjaer has also been linked with the Norway job, and the 51-year-old said that he would be interested in managing his country at some stage in the future.

"I am a proud Norwegian, and of course if the question arises, when Stale [Solbakken] decides to give up, I will happily engage in discussions," Solskjaer said. "I am a proud Norwegian and proud of where I come from."

Solskjaer represented Man United as a player between 1996 and 2007, while he managed the club between 2018 and 2021, boasting a record of 91 wins, 37 draws and 40 defeats from his 168 games in charge.

The Norwegian was initially brought in as an interim head coach, but strong performances on the field led to him being handed the job at Old Trafford on a permanent basis.

Is Ten Hag under pressure at Man United?

According to journalist Rudy Galetti, despite the disappointing 1-1 draw with FC Twente in the Europa League on Wednesday night, Ten Hag's job at the helm remains safe.

However, Galetti claims that Red Devils chiefs want to see a huge improvement in the performances, starting with Sunday's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.

An underwhelming start to the new Premier League campaign has left the 20-time English champions in 11th spot in the table, boasting only seven points from their opening five matches.

Man United are unbeaten in their last four games in all competitions, but they have drawn their last two against Palace and Twente despite having enough chances to win both fixtures.
