Marouane Fellaini: 'Midfield is my best position'

Marouane Fellaini tells Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal that he would prefer to play in midfield rather than as a striker.

Marouane Fellaini has told Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal that he would prefer to play as a midfielder and not a striker.

The Belgian international has often been deployed as a lone frontman by Van Gaal, most recently in the 3-1 home victory over Liverpool last week.

The United boss has suggested that the 27-year-old would be used in an advanced role this season, but Fellaini has stated that he feels more comfortable in midfield.

"When the manager asks me to play somewhere, I play there," he told Bleacher Report. "But my best position is midfield."

Fellaini has scored eight goals in 56 appearances for United.
