Manchester United manager David Moyes has declared himself particularly impressed with the drive and determination of Robin van Persie during his first two months in charge at Old Trafford.
Van Persie scored 30 goals in all competitions in his debut season with United and continued that rich vein of form last weekend, bagging a brace as United ran out 4-1 winners at Swansea City in their Premier League opener.
Moyes believes that Van Persie's hunger to keep winning silverware after a maiden career triumph last season makes him a dangerous proposition, with the Dutchman still looking for ways to improve in training.
He told The Telegraph: "His goals at Swansea were top goals, those of a top goalscorer, and you can see the difference it makes. But he has been really interesting with things we have been talking about such as where he might score and how he might score.
"He has not really spoken about any other player, but generally, he is very interesting and his work has been very good. I asked the players the other day how many medals had they won. Ryan Giggs had won 13, quite a few of them had won five or six and Robin said he'd only won one. So for me, the challenge is for Robin to keep trying to win medals and I think he's got it, I think he's driven to do it.
"I've got to say at the moment, with the way I've seen him, world class is sometimes used quite loosely but I think it'd be hard not to put him in that category that's for sure. He wants to succeed and I've been really impressed by him in his training and commitment and in trying to improve himself. We're talking about his goals, but at Swansea, when he got the ball into him, with his hold up play and how he brought people into the game, that was impressive as well."
The 30-year-old has now scored 124 goals in 233 Premier League appearances.
