Manchester United's Louis van Gaal expects "interesting" clash against Everton

Louis van Gaal believes that Manchester United's battle against Everton on Sunday will be an "interesting" game.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is hopeful that his players can "dominate the game" at Old Trafford against Everton on Sunday.

The Red Devils can clinch their first back-to-back wins under Van Gaal in the Premier League should they overcome Roberto Martinez's Everton side.

United have won just twice in six league games, while Everton have claimed just the one victory so far in England's top flight.

"I have to say that I like Everton because they want to play football like I want to play football," Van Gaal said in this afternoon's press conference. "It shall be a very interesting game.

"I know we lost to them twice last season so it will be difficult. I hope we can dominate the game but they will want to do that too, they're more likely to play on the counter than us. That's also the difficulty."

Van Gaal has also hinted that Juan Mata will adopt Wayne Rooney's role in the team as the captain begins a three-match suspension.
