Gareth Bale urges Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Real Madrid

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale is hopeful that Cristiano Ronaldo will not leave the club next summer despite reports linking him with a move back to Manchester United.

Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has urged teammate Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at the Bernabeu amid rumours that he could leave the club next summer.

Ronaldo has been in scintillating form so far this season, netting an incredible 17 goals in 11 matches, including three hat-tricks in his last four league outings.

However, the two-time Ballon d'Or winner has long been linked with a move back to former club Manchester United, something that Bale hopes does not materialise.

"He's shown what a world-class player he is year after year scoring the goals," the Welshman told reporters.

"Obviously he's a player we wouldn't want to see leave. Of course, (I) want to see him stay at Real Madrid."

Ronaldo has scored a staggering 269 goals in 257 games for Madrid since his move from Old Trafford in 2009.
