Manchester United are reportedly given the chance to sign a prolific striker for a cut-price fee as part of a deal which would see Alejandro Garnacho join Napoli.

Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as part of a deal that would see Alejandro Garnacho move in the opposite direction.

Garnacho continues to be heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford, having struggled for starting opportunities under Ruben Amorim's tutelage.

The Argentine has had to settle for four starts in 10 Premier League appearances since Amorim took over the reins in November.

Napoli are seemingly keen to offer Garnacho a potential escape route, having already tabled a £40m bid which was subsequently rejected by Man United.

The Red Devils are believed to be looking for around £55m for a player who is under contract until the summer of 2028.

Man United offered Osimhen discount

Chelsea have also been linked with a potential move for the Man United attacker before the transfer window shuts on February 3.

However, Napoli could have an advantage over Chelsea, with Il Mattino reporting that they are willing to sell Osimhen to Man United for a cut-price fee in the summer transfer window.

The report claims that Napoli would allow Man United to sign Osimhen below his €75m (£63.4m) release clause which will come into play at the end of his current loan spell with Galatasaray.

Antonio Conte's side will only put the discount on the table if Man United accept a lower offer than their valuation for Garnacho.

However, a recent report has claimed that the Red Devils have already lowered their asking price for Garnacho to £55m.

Could Osimhen be the answer to Man United's striker issues?

Man United are in need of a new striker, having seen Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggle to meet the standards required to be the club's main centre-forward.

Hojlund has performed admirably in Europe with a five-goal return from six Europa League matches, but he has failed to replicate that form in the Premier League this term, netting just twice in 17 top-flight matches.

As for Zirkzee, he has troubled the scorers on just four occasions in 31 competitive appearances since arriving from Bologna last summer.

Osimhen would represent a significant step up from Man United's current options, having built his reputation as a prolific striker at Napoli and now in his loan spell with Galatasaray.

The Nigeria international racked up 76 goals in 133 matches for the Italian side, before he was sent on loan to Galatasaray in the summer after his relationship with his parent club turned sour.

Osimhen has continued to showcase his clinical nature with the Turkish giants, having netted 15 goals in 19 games in all competitions.
