Manchester United have reportedly expressed interest in acquiring the services of Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand.
United's defence has been significantly impacted this season, with both World Cup-winning centre-backs Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane suffering long-term injuries at different points.
Erik ten Hag's side missed out on several central defenders last summer and have been monitoring potential targets ahead of next season.
The most recent addition to the list, as reported by Fichajes, is Real Sociedad's Robin Le Normand, who has been impressive for the La Liga side in the current campaign.
The Red Devils have had to rely on the partnership of Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans of late, though the former has been linked with a possible move away from Old Trafford, and Le Normand has emerged as his potential replacement, according to the same report.
However, securing the 26-year-old's signature may not be an easy task for United as Real Madrid have also expressed an interest in the defender as a possible replacement for Nacho Fernandez.
It is understood that Le Normand has a release clause of £43.6m and that his contract with the Basque club is in effect until 2026, following the signing of a new deal last July.
With several players suffering from injury, United have endured one of their worst starts to a season and were beaten 3-0 in the Manchester derby on Sunday.
