Saudi Pro League director of football Michael Emenalo plays down claims that Jadon Sancho could make the move to the division in January.

Saudi Pro League director of football Michael Emenalo has played down suggestions that Jadon Sancho could make the move to the division during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old's future is currently the subject of much speculation, as he is widely expected to leave Manchester United in the winter market due to the breakdown of his relationship with head coach Erik ten Hag.

Saudi outfit Al Ettifaq are thought to have attempted to sign Sancho in the latter stages of their summer transfer window, but it is understood that Man United priced him out of an exit.

There have since been suggestions that a number of Saudi Pro League clubs are keeping a close eye on Sancho's situation with a view to a potential move in 2024.

However, Emenalo has played down claims that the ex-Manchester City youngster could make a move to the division when the winter market opens for business.

"We can't discuss specific targets with respect to the parent clubs and also for the player himself. We also don't want to be regarded as a dumping ground for players that didn't work in other clubs," he told Sky Sports News.

"We have to look carefully at what our clubs require. We will work closely to make that happen. I don't want to minimise the quality or importance of a player like Jadon. Right now, there are no specific discussions about any specific players."

Sancho has not featured for Man United since the end of August, having hit out at Ten Hag after being left out of the squad against Arsenal at the start of September.

Ten Hag said in his post-match press conference that poor training-ground performances had seen the forward dropped, but Sancho insisted that was not the case in a post on social media.

The forward claimed that he had been made "a scapegoat", and he has not been involved since, with the player allegedly refusing to apologise to Ten Hag for his comments.

The Man United head coach hinted last week that an apology from the Englishman would see him brought back into the first team, even at this stage.

However, Sancho seemingly has no plans to back down, and he is widely expected to leave Old Trafford in January, with Juventus and Borussia Dortmund said to be the favourites for his signature.

Man United are reportedly yet to receive a firm offer for the unsettled forward, with Dortmund believed to be concerned by his lack of fitness, as he has not been involved since his side's 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest on August 26.
