Bastian Schweinsteiger tight-lipped on Manchester United transfer links

Bastian Schweinsteiger refuses to comment on speculation linking him with Manchester United, reiterating that he is under contract at Bayern Munich for another 12 months.

Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger has refused to be drawn into growing rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United this summer.

The German World Cup winner has reportedly been earmarked as the ideal midfield option for Red Devils manager Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford, as he looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season.

Bayern boss Pep Guardiola himself weighed in on the speculation earlier this week, stating that the final decision over any move will be made by the player alone.

However, speaking after today's trophy celebrations at the Allianz Arena, Schweinsteiger remained coy.

"I am under contract until 2016," he is quoted as saying by ESPN, before adding: "I won't comment on it."

Van Gaal previously managed Schweinsteiger during his time in charge of Bayern.
