Rafael Benitez rules out title bid

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez says that his side can be discounted as title contenders this season.

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez has admitted that his side are unlikely to win the Serie A title this season.

The Partenopei are currently third in the table, and trail league leaders Juventus by 13 points.

"I don't think we can win the title now," Benitez told Onda Cero. "But there is still a lot we can do.

"There is much we can improve upon. Our goal now is to get closer to [second-placed] Roma.

"We'll evaluate what we need in the summer. We have a president who will suddenly invest €100m (£82m), so we have to choose wisely the players we want and the areas we need to improve."

Napoli are next in action when they visit Sassuolo in Serie A on Sunday.
