FIFA appoints Sarai Bareman as its first chief women's football officer.

FIFA has named Sarai Bareman as its first chief women's football officer.

The former Samoa women's international will head up the governing body's newly-created women's division, reporting to deputy secretary general Zvonimir Boban.

New Zealand-born Bareman previously served as the Samoa national football association's chief executive before joining the Oceania Football Confederation and working her way up to deputy secretary general.

Most recently serving as the only female member of FIFA's 2016 reform committee, she will take up her new post on November 14.
