FIFA to "cooperate fully" with authorities after more officials arrested

FIFA says that it will "cooperate fully" with the authorities after two more football officials were arrested in Zurich over corruption allegations.

FIFA has released a statement insisting that football's world governing body will "cooperate fully" with the authorities after two more officials were arrested in Zurich this morning.

The Swiss and United States authorities detained two FIFA officials in Zurich on suspicion of "accepting bribes of millions of dollars".

The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into corruption and money laundering within the governing body.

FIFA's statement read: "FIFA is aware of the actions taken today by the US Department of Justice. FIFA will continue to cooperate fully with the US investigation as permitted by Swiss law, as well as with the investigation being led by the Swiss Office of the Attorney General. FIFA will have no further comment on today's developments."

According to the New York Times, CONCACAF president Alfredo Hawit and CONMEBOL president Juan Angel Napout were among the arrests.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter, who will step down from his role in February, is currently serving a 90-day ban.
