QPR chief executive Philip Beard warns the team that another relegation battle would be unacceptable following the summer investment.

Queens Park Rangers chief executive Philip Beard has warned the team that they must do better this season following the summer investment.

Manager Mark Hughes brought in 11 new signings during the transfer window, including players from the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United, Chelsea and Inter Milan.

QPR left it until the final day last season to secure their Premier League spot for another year, and Beard has left the club in no doubt that a repeat performance this time around would be unacceptable.

"We haven't made the investment of this summer to simply compete at the same level as last season," Beard told London 24.

"The investment has been made so that we feel we are a club which can compete against - and beat - every club we play.

"We all believe that the squad we have now should be able to get stability in the Premier League - not fighting for survival."

QPR's most expensive signing of the summer was Esteban Granero, who joined from Madrid for a fee believed to be around £9m.
