Rangers held by lowly Livingston

Rangers moved up to second in the Scottish Championship despite being held to a 1-1 draw with rock-bottom Livingston at Almondvale Stadium this evening.

Myles Hippolyte gave the home side a surprise lead less than two minutes into the second period when he curled home a free kick.

However, Livingston's lead was short lived as Marius Zaliukas equalised after getting on the end of Haris Vuckic's cross moments after the opener.

In the first half, Livingston had the ball in the net early on, but the goal was ruled out after the referee blew for a foul on Rangers goalkeeper Cammy Bell.

Vuckic was causing problems for Livingston and it was his cross that found Nicky Clark inside the area on 18 minutes, but the striker could only head over the bar.

Vuckic then went close on 24 minutes after he latched on to Andy Murdoch's initial shot, but the on-loan midfielder's low effort was saved.

After the break, Vuckic almost made it 2-1 shortly after he restored parity, but the Slovenian's effort cannoned back off the post after a smart cut-back from Kenny Miller.

The visitors pressed for a winner in the closing stages, but the home side held on to claim an important point in their bid for safety.
