Mauricio Pochettino buoyed by Tottenham Hotspur character

Mauricio Pochettino hails his Tottenham team for the character shown in recovering from a two-goal deficit to dump Burnley out of the FA Cup.

Mauricio Pochettino has hailed Tottenham Hotspur's character after coming from two goals down to beat Burnley 4-2 in an FA Cup third-round replay tonight.

Spurs got off to the worst possible start as goals from Marvin Sordell and Ross Wallace helped the Clarets into a 2-0 lead inside eight minutes at White Hart Lane.

However, Paulinho provided a swift riposte, while Etienne Capoue and Vlad Chiriches struck either side of the break before Danny Rose capped the win on 52 minutes.

"It was a very interesting game. It was a strange game," the Lilywhites boss told reporters. "We deserved to go through to the next round. It was key to go in at half-time at 2-2.

"We fixed something from the tactical situation and scored two goals quickly to decide the game. The team has shown character and faith. It's important to grow in the group.

"I am happy they showed character because that is important."

The Lilywhites face Leicester City in the fourth round of the competition.
