Mauricio Pochettino: 'Tottenham Hotspur are a bit behind during pre-season'

Tottenham Hotspur coach Mauricio Pochettino admits that his side are "a bit behind" during pre-season following their 3-0 friendly defeat at the hands of Manchester City.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that his side are "a bit behind" in their pre-season preparations following the club's 3-0 friendly defeat to Manchester City.

Spurs are currently the only Premier League outfit not to sign a new player during the summer window, and Pochettino has admitted that the club are working towards bringing in some fresh faces to boost their squad ahead of the new campaign.

"Of course, Man City have more senior players than us and they invest more money than us. You can see that we have a lot of young players on the bench," said Pochettino, according to Sky Sports News.

"It's true the squads are completely different but we are building the squad. Maybe today they have a little bit of an advantage, they are ahead of us because they have signed and kept the players that they want.

"We are a little bit behind but working hard to sign some players who can help us and bring some energy, and make us more competitive."

Tottenham will get their Premier League season underway on August 13 when they travel to visit newly-promoted Newcastle United.
