Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has revealed that he is nearing a return to full fitness following a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.
The versatile Belgian was a Premier League ever-present for Spurs this season before picking up a knock in the victory over Fulham at the start of December.
He has not featured since, missing 10 games in total, but the 26-year-old may be fit to make his comeback against Swansea City this weekend after tweeting on Sunday that his recovery is nearly complete.
"Another 3 point yesterday!!! Well done! Hopefully last couple of days in my recovery next week!," he tweeted, following Tottenham's 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.
Neither Vertonghen nor fellow centre-back Younes Kaboul have played for Spurs since sacked Andre Villas-Boas was replaced by Tim Sherwood, who has paired captain Michael Dawson and Romanian international Vlad Chiriches in the middle of the Lillywhites defence for six of his seven games in charge.
