Tottenham Hotspur reportedly drop Giovani Lo Celso's asking price by £35m as they look to offload the Argentine this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly dropped Giovani Lo Celso's asking price by £35m in a bid to find him a new club this summer.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou experienced a mixed campaign in his first season in North London, seeing his side enjoy a 10-game unbeaten start before a lack of consistency ultimately cost them the Champions League.

Nevertheless, a fifth-placed finish and plenty of promise gives Postecoglou a foundation to build upon as he begins preparations for next season.

There will be considerable change in Postecoglou's third transfer window as Tottenham boss, with the club looking to clear out any unwanted players to make room for potential arrivals.

Spurs recently confirmed the departures of Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon, while Tanguy Ndombele's exit is expected to be announced in the coming days.

Tottenham slash Lo Celso asking price

Tottenham are also set to offload Lo Celso after the Argentine had to settle for a fringe role during the 2023-24 season.

The midfielder started just four of his 22 Premier League appearances, with each of those four starts taking place before the turn of the year.

With Spurs keen to find Lo Celso a new home, Football Insider are reporting that they are willing to drop their £50m asking price to just £15m.

The report claims that Tottenham are prepared to accept a cut price due to the player's contract expiring in the summer of 2025.

Such a fee would represent a poor return on the £55m that Tottenham splashed out to sign Lo Celso from Real Betis in January 2020 following an initial loan spell.

Betis eyeing Lo Celso reunion

After falling out of favour in North London, Lo Celso returned to Spain to join Villarreal on loan for the 2022-23 season.

The 28-year-old could be presented with the chance to go back to La Liga amid reported interest from his former club Betis.

Lo Celso spent the 2018-19 campaign with the Andalusian club, scoring 16 goals and six assists in 45 competitive appearances.

While it remains to be seen whether he returns to Betis, Lo Celso's current focus will be on this summer's Copa America in the USA.

Lo Celso has been included in Argentina's provisional squad, and is likely to make the cut for Lionel Scaloni's final selection.
