Slavisa Jokanovic praises Watford resilience in win over Blackburn Rovers

Watford boss Slavisa Jokanovic hails the resolve of his side to beat Blackburn Rovers 1-0 in the Championship despite not playing their best football.

Watford boss Slavisa Jokanovic has praised the resilience of his team in defeating Blackburn Rovers 1-0 in the Championship on Saturday.

The Hornets failed to produce their best football and were forced to rely on keeper Heurelho Gomes to keep them in the match at Vicarage Road until Odion Ighalo netted a late winner to keep their playoff hopes on track.

Jokanovic told Sky Sports News: "Heurelho's done his job as part of the team. He made some spectacular saves but this is part of his job. He helped us so much today in this game - this too is part of his job - and Ighalo scored the goal and other people participated in the game today.

"I understand [people wanting to praise Gomes' performance] but for me it's more important how we resolved many problems that we had today, especially without so much quality.

"We are fighting, we are now suffering altogether. We know if we arrive at the end of the game with a clean sheet and we can make a chance we can win the game. My team didn't play a brilliant game, we had many difficulties and we didn't play the game Blackburn played today."

Watford are now sixth in the Championship table, seven points off the pace in the race for automatic promotion.
