West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce admits that his side need to find a consistent striker if they stay in the Premier League next season.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that his side need to need to sign a striker that scores consistently to maintain their Premier League place in the long term.

Kevin Nolan is the club's top scorer this season on six goals, with no other Hammers player netting more than four in all competitions.

Allardyce thinks that finding a forward who can notch double figures regularly will help his side become a force in the top flight next season.

He told Sky Sports News: "The only thing I have been disappointed about is our goal tally, particularly away from home.

"If we want to be an established Premier League side we've got to have at least a couple of our front men notching 10 a piece, then the rest can follow on behind that."

The Hammers have been consistently linked with a move for Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony in recent weeks, with Allardyce refusing to rule out a deal for the poacher.

He said: "If we stay in this league every striker is of interest to us if we think they can score goals."

West Ham are six points clear of the relegation zone ahead of today's clash with West Bromwich Albion.
