Sebastian Vettel's participation in the prestigious Le Mans race this year seems less probable by the day.

The prospect of Vettel making a comeback to Formula 1 in 2025 is still gaining traction, especially after the surprising news of Lewis Hamilton's transfer from Mercedes to Ferrari.

"I'm talking to Toto (Wolff)," Vettel was cited by Auto Motor und Sport this week. "But I don't know if that means I'm officially talking to Mercedes. We talk about a lot of things."

"I have a lot of ideas. I'm planning events. That's why I've also spoken to a lot of other team bosses and not just about motorsport."

Speaking to Sky Deutschland, the German racer revealed, "I have some projects and ideas together with Formula 1. We'll see if anything comes of it or not."

Once seen as more feasible than a return to F1, Vettel's engagement in the Le Mans race in June, following his test drive of Porsche's hypercar, now seems uncertain.

However, according to Motorsport Aktuell, another publication from Germany, Vettel's chance of joining Porsche's works team in a third car is being viewed as too risky due to his minimal experience in endurance racing.

"The Porsche factory drivers have apparently already been informed that the third car will be driven by Mathieu Jaminet, Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy as originally planned," noted the magazine.

A role as a brand ambassador is being considered for Vettel, potentially leading to a more structured approach to participating in Le Mans in 2025.

Vettel himself completed two double stints in the hypercar, Auto Motor und Sport reported, "and according to sources, it was clear that Vettel still has work to do on his consistency."
