Lewis Hamilton has blamed tyre problems for his fifth-placed finish in qualifying for the United States Grand Prix.
Both Mercedes drivers struggled in the cooler temperatures in Austin, although the Brit did at least do better than his teammate Nico Rosberg, who will start 13th on the grid after being knocked out in Q2.
"It wasn't a great qualifying," the 28-year-old told Sky Sports News.
"For some reason these tyres are not working perfectly, so you have to do the outlap, then a slow-lap to warm the tyres, then you push and when you push the tyres don't feel great, whereas other people were getting it on the first lap.
"Who knows maybe tomorrow with the higher temperatures that might be a benefit for us."
Sebastian Vettel will start on pole in the penultimate race of the season.
