Despite its popularity and the notable connection with Max Verstappen, the Dutch Grand Prix's continuance at Zandvoort beyond 2025 is still uncertain.
Zandvoort circuit's head, Robert van Overdijk, discussed on ZFM Zandvoort radio that the track is undergoing updates to meet current Formula 1 criteria, with a particular focus on widening the pit lane and enlarging the garages.
"That was necessary," he acknowledged. "I remember when Carlos Sainz drove over a wheel-gun and it suddenly became clear - the pitlane is too tight. FOM and the FIA said 'If you want to continue, you have to do something about it."
Yet, with the current agreement for the Dutch GP concluding in 2025, van Overdijk indicates that discussions for renewal are already underway.
In response to inquiries about the negotiation progress, he stated, "We are not an oil state, where contracts can be extended for ten or 12 years. We need a few more months before we can make this decision. But it is clear that FOM would like to continue coming here, and you don't make these kinds of investments for the short term."
