Mark Webber's dad denies quit claims

Mark Webber will not quit Formula 1, according to his father.

Alan Webber, father of Red Bull driver Mark, has denied speculation that his son could quit Formula 1 and confirmed that he will compete in the Chinese Grand Prix next month.

Rumours had circulated suggesting that Webber has returned home to consider his future in the sport after he was pipped by teammate Sebastian Vettel, who ignored team orders by overtaking the Australian to secure victory at the Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday.

However, Webber's father has since rejected suggestions of quitting but insists that the relationship between the two drivers is damaged.

"We'll be up in China for the next one," Alan Webber told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. "I think it will take a while to earn the respect and trust again.

"Sebastian disobeyed team orders and most, if not all the team, are disappointed with him.

"Up and down pit lane Mark has not lost any credibility at all. It's probably Sebastian who has lost an awful lot."

Vettel leads the drivers' championship on 40 points, 14 ahead of third-placed Webber, while Red Bull top the constructors' standings with 66 points.
