Phil Mickelson gains a late entry to this week's Scottish Open after missing the cut at the Greenbrier Classic on Friday night.

Phil Mickelson has gained a late entry into this week's Scottish Open, which begins at Castle Stuart on Thursday.

The American is hoping to find some form ahead of the Open later this month following a disappointing recent run of results.

The 42-year-old lefty has gone a career-worst seven consecutive rounds without breaking par.

Speaking after missing the cut at this weekend's Greenbrier Classic, Mickelson said: "[My game] doesn't feel bad off the tee, it doesn't feel bad with the iron play, it doesn't feel bad chipping or putting.

"But I'm making a lot of loose drives here or there, some loose iron shots here or there, missing some short putts here or there."

He and age-old rival Tiger Woods missed the cut together for the first time in their careers at the Greenbrier.
