Sergio Garcia praises Rory McIlroy display

Sergio Garcia describes playing partner Rory McIlroy's performance as "amazing" after the two Europeans beat Hunter Mahan and Jim Furyk by a 3&2 scoreline.

Sergio Garcia has insisted that Rory McIlroy was responsible for their 3&2 win over Hunter Mahan and Jim Furyk in Saturday's foursomes.

The world number one and three's success helped put Europe in full control of the 2014 Ryder Cup, but Garcia was disappointed with his own performance at Gleneagles.

The 34-year-old told Sky Sports News: "I think Rory beat three guys today in foursomes - that's not easy to do.

"I wasn't at my best. I was a little bit nervous. He played just amazing."

Europe require just four points to retain the Ryder Cup, while another 0.5 will see them win the trophy outright.
