Japanese star Hideki Matsuyama marks the return to his homeland by winning the ZOZO Championship by five shots.

Hideki Matsuyama has landed his second title of 2021 with a dominant victory at the ZOZO Championship in Japan.

The Masters champion was playing in his homeland for the first time since his triumph at Augusta, and the world number 19 handled the pressure by claiming a five-shot win.

Matsuyama started the day narrowly ahead of Cameron Tringale, who was searching for his first PGA Tour success, and the pair were level as they made the turn.

However, birdies at the 11th, 13th and 15th holes proved to be the difference before Matsuyama capped a fine performance with an eagle on the last.

Tringale had to make do with joint-second alongside Brendan Steele, and there was a further four-shot gap to Mackenzie Hughes, Matt Wallace and Sebastian Munoz.

Open champion Collin Morikawa and Tommy Fleetwood were among a group of players who ended the tournament in seventh spot.
