Ernie Els has won the Open Championship for the second time by one shot following a spectacular meltdown by Adam Scott.
The Australian had led by four shots going into the final day at Royal Lytham & St Annes but carded four bogeys in the final four holes to end on six-under-par.
In contrast, South African Els holed four birdies on the back nine to give himself a final score of six-under with a round of 68.
Tiger Woods was tied for third with fellow American Brandt Snedeker on three-under, while world number one Luke Donald ended the day a shot further back with Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell.
It is Els' fourth Major triumph following two victories at the US Open and a previous win in the Open at Muirfield in 2002.
