Top seed Henrik Stenson remains the man to beat at the World Match Play in Kent after qualifying for the semi-finals with a two-hole success over Jonas Blixt.
The world number five led from the second hole of his clash with fellow Swede Blixt and closed out a narrow victory with a birdie on the final hole.
There will be no rematch of his Ryder Cup singles tie with Patrick Reed, though, after the American was beaten 2&1 by South African George Coetzee at the London Golf Club.
Another star from Europe's triumph at Gleneagles, Victor Dubuisson, followed Reed out at the last-eight stage after being bested by Mikko Ilonen in a tight contest which went down the 18th.
Dutchman Joost Luiten is the only man who has won all four of his matches so far and impressed in gaining seamless qualification for the semis by thrashing Pablo Larrazabal 6&5 thanks to five birdies.
