Louis Smith nervous ahead of Games

Louis Smith admits that his nerves are jangling as the London Olympics approach.

Great Britain gymnast Louis Smith has admitted that he is feeling nervous ahead of the Olympics.

Smith, a bronze medallist on the pommel horse in Beijing, said that he will try to treat the Games as just a normal event in order to stay focused.

"I never actually thought this day would come - it's a strange feeling," said Smith. "We will try and see this as just another competition.

"All the world championships over the years, you're always thinking, '2012, it's ages away, it's ages away', and now we're here, four or five days away and we're about to compete so it's quite nerve-wracking.

"We try to keep it like a normal competition so we don't try and work ourselves up thinking, 'Oh my God, this is the Olympics'."

Smith's medal four years ago was Britain's first in an individual gymnastics event since 1908.
