Team GB come up short against Angola

Great Britain's women lose 31-25 to Angola in the Olympic handball competition.

Great Britain's women put up a spirited display but were ultimately beaten by Angola in the Olympic handball competition.

The African champions, whom Britain beat earlier in the year, raced into a 2-0 lead which pretty much set the tone for the match.

Team GB were always playing catch-up and despite good efforts from Holly Lam-Moores and captain Lynn McCafferty, Angola went in at half-time 14-10 up.

Angola, who made it to the quarter-finals of the world championships, came out quick again after the break.

They took a commanding 31-20 lead with just five minutes to go.

Britain fought back though, and the match finished 31-25.

The result means that the women's team have failed to win any of their Olympic matches so far. They face Croatia next, who are ranked higher than Angola.

The game against Croatian takes place on Sunday morning, and the men's team take on Tunisia tomorrow.
