Alex Danson: 'We've been working towards this moment'

Alex Danson admits that Great Britain are "absolutely delighted" to have reach the final of the Olympic Games with victory over New Zealand.

Great Britain's Alex Danson has described reaching the final at the Olympic Games as "unbelievable".

Danson featured in the Team GB side which defeated New Zealand by a 3-0 scoreline on Wednesday night to move through to a showdown with the Netherlands, and she acknowledged that it had taken a lot of hard work to make the breakthrough in Rio de Janeiro.

The 31-year-old told reporters: "I'm absolutely delighted. This is something that GB hockey, in terms of the 31 of us who represent this team and every player who has put on a GB shirt over the last number of years, has been working towards.

"To come away from a semi-final and to be going into a final is unbelievable. But you can't forget what's got us here. It's been one game at a time, building momentum, recovering and playing again. We've got one more to play and we won't change anything about how we prepare."

Great Britain have won all seven of their fixtures since arriving in Brazil.
