Azerbaijan's karate joy at European Games continues with kumite -84kg gold

Aykhan Mamayev picks up host nation Azerbaijan's fourth karate gold of the European Games.

Azerbaijan's impressive showing at the European Games has continued with another gold in the men's karate.

Aykhan Mamayev was victorious in the kumite -84kg at Crystal Hall to take the host nation's medal tally up to 10 overall - four better than second-placed Russian Federation.

The 23-year-old narrowly beat Greece's Michail Georgios Tzanos in this afternoon's final, just like he did in the earlier elimination rounds.

Ugar Aktas of Turkey completed the podium lineup by edging out Kosovo's Alvin Karaqi to take bronze in the third-place shootout.
