Great Britain's Jamie Cooke has revealed that his time at the Olympics in Rio has been inspirational following his 13th-place finish in the modern pentathlon.
Competing at his first Olympic games alongside fellow Briton Joe Choong, Cooke was unable to put up a consistent challenge against eventual gold-medal winner Alexander Lesun, who established a new world record with a tally of 1,479 points for Russia.
"Everyone comes here to win medals. That is something I definitely wanted to do but I didn't put myself in the best position," said Cooke, according to BBC Sport.
"The fencing killed me but this is my first Olympics, it is inspiring and I want to be back."
The modern pentathlon also saw Ukraine claim a silver medal through Pavlo Tymoshchenko, while Ismael Hernandez Uscango earned a bronze for Mexico.
