Marc Marquez hails historic victory

Marc Marquez says that becoming the youngest-ever racer to win a MotoGP is a "dream come true".

Marc Marquez has described his historic victory in Texas as a "dream come true" after becoming the youngest racer to win a MotoGP.

The Spaniard raced to victory at the Grand Prix of the Americas to move himself to the top of the championship standings after seeing off nearest rivals Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo.

Marquez, at the age of 20 years and 63 days, takes the record as the youngest rider to win a premier-class Grand Prix and is delighted with his accomplishments.

"It is unbelievable. A first victory in MotoGP is a dream come true," Marquez told BBC Sport.

"I have to say thanks to all the people who helped me, especially the team because I could not do this without them."

Marquez's victory marked the first time in the last 30 MotoGP races that a Grand Prix has been won by a rider other than either Casey Stoner, Lorenzo or Pedrosa.
