England netball coach Anna Mayes has claimed that she is "absolutely gutted" after their medal-match defeat to Jamaica at the Commonwealth Games.
Mayes's side slipped to a 48-52 reverse to the Jamaicans to miss out on the bronze, and the defeat came hot on the heels of Saturday's gut-wrenching semi-final loss to New Zealand.
The netball coach told BBC Sport: "[We're] absolutely gutted. The girls are better than the performance they put out today and it was a hard task to get back up after running New Zealand so close yesterday and unfortunately we didn't play our best, and credit to Jamaica.
"I think they have thrown everything into every game and you know, we have to make sure that's the way it is. When you lose a semi-final, you have to get yourself back up but credit to them. We had opportunities to take the game and we needed to be more clinical.
"I think we'll look closely at where we lost possession, at times we were a little bit hesitant, and I think they nerves got the better of us at the end of the first half."
New Zealand play Australia in Sunday's final.
