London-based Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea have been criticised for not giving their kitchen staff adequate wages.
The Daily Star has claimed that Arsenal contractor Delaware North Companies are advertising jobs for matchday bar staff and catering roles at the Emirates at the rate of £7.07 an hour.
While the pay is above the minimum wage of £6.31 for workers over the age of 21, it is not considered acceptable for people living in the city of London.
Reports have claimed that Chelsea contractors are offering a kitchen porter job at the club's training ground for £6.79 an hour.
"If they can afford to pay their players £100,000 a week, surely they can pay their contractors £8.80 an hour," the newspaper quotes Labour councillor Andy Hull as saying.
In contrast, Arsenal's summer signing Mesut Ozil is said to be earning £130,000 a week.
