A Spanish court has dropped a tax fraud investigation into Barcelona star Lionel Messi and his charity foundation over six friendly matches.

A probe was launched over concerns of unpaid taxes in relation to games held between June 16, 2012 and July 6, 2013 in the United States, Mexico, Colombia and Peru.

According to The AP, a court in Barcelona dropped the case after businessman Guillermo Javier Marin gave the judge a "coherent explanation" relating to wire transfers of $1.37m (£904,880).

Meanwhile, Messi is due to face trial in the future over allegations of tax fraud, which also involve his father Jorge.
