Crystal Palace to announce Selhurst Park expansion

Crystal Palace are expected to announce plans before Christmas to expand the seating capacity of Selhurst Park.

Crystal Palace are expected to announce plans before Christmas to expand the seating capacity of Selhurst Park.

The club's stadium currently holds 26,000 supporters, but chairman Steve Parish is due to outline a 14,000-seat increase in December.

Parish has spoken previously about his desire to move ahead with the plans and re-development could now be a realistic prospect.

"We have been working very hard for a long time to try and get the right idea and we think we have now got it," Parish told reporters. "When I came into this thing, the aim was to bring something for all of us to be proud of on the pitch and very importantly on the pitch.

"We want to give everyone in Croydon and South London a stadium that we can all be proud of and not lose our atmosphere and uniqueness.

"That is a dream for me, a lifelong dream and one that hopefully everyone will share when they see what we have put together. It is exciting times for us to look forward to."

The long-term ambition of the club since being promoted to the Premier League in 2013 hit obstacles in the past, but investment in 2015 allowed Parish to commit to the expansion.
