Cricket broadcaster Jonathan Agnew has quit Twitter after receiving abuse from fellow users about his views on the Kevin Pietersen saga.
Pietersen's new book KP: My Autobiography has sparked controversy after he accused a number of England cricketers, including Matt Prior, of leading a culture of bullying in the dressing room.
The former England batsman also claimed that he and ex-head coach Andy Flower never got on, while accusing a number of his teammates of having access to parody Twitter account @KPGenuis.
Over the last couple of days, Agnew, who works on the BBC's Test Match Special, has been criticised by Pietersen's supporters after he claimed that the batsman was in fact an "anxious, nervous character."
Agnew also had a disagreement with Pietersen's wife Jessica regarding the fake Twitter profile, and told her to "lose the attitude".
In his final tweet on Wednesday, Agnew wrote: "Almost did this last night, but will now. This is not what Twitter was when I joined. I will now leave it to the bullies and trolls. Shame."
Pietersen was dropped from the England setup back in February following their disastrous Ashes campaign in Australia.
