Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has spoken of his admiration for New Zealand rugby legend Jonah Lomu, who has died at the age of 40.
It was announced this morning that the former All Blacks player, who had struggled with a rare kidney disease for many years, has passed away.
The world of sport has paid tribute to Lomu, and now Gerrard has paid his respects.
The Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder met Lomu, who is a Liverpool supporter, while appearing on The Clare Balding Show on BT Sport in 2013.
On Instagram, Gerrard wrote: "I was lucky enough to meet this legend in person , a sporting icon who will be sadly missed . A very interesting man who inspired people all over the world . RIP Jonah Lomu."
