David Beckham 'spends £10,000 on Arsenal shirt he signed for son's birthday'

David Beckham spends £10,000 on an Arsenal shirt that he signed himself for his son Romeo's 13th birthday.

Former Manchester United star David Beckham spent £10,000 on an Arsenal shirt that he signed himself, reportedly for his son Romeo's birthday.

The second eldest son of the ex-England captain turned 13 on Tuesday, and Beckham posted birthday wishes to the youngster on Instagram, adding that his teenage son is "still an Arsenal fan".

Later that day, Beckham was honoured with the Legend of Football Award at the HMV Football Extravaganza charity event, where he opted to spend thousands on an Arsenal shirt that he signed himself.

According to the Daily Mail, the retired footballer, who spent 11 years of his career playing for United, bought the piece for Romeo's birthday.

Beckham joked: "I had a choice to go to Tottenham or Arsenal and I chose Tottenham for a couple of years, even though I've spent 10 grand on an Arsenal shirt, but it's for a good cause."

The event raises money for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins.
