Former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly not interested in accepting a peerage.

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly rejected the opportunity of becoming a lord.

The Scotsman was tipped for a peerage by the Labour Party following his decision to retire from football after 26 years at the helm at Old Trafford.

While the Labour supporter has not been formally offered a title, the 71-year-old has decided against a peerage as he wants to spend more time with his wife Cathy, according to The Mirror.

Ferguson amassed 38 trophies during his time in charge of the Red Devils.
