Wayne Rooney will give insight into his family life in a new BBC documentary with Gary Lineker.

England and Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney will give fans an insight into his family life in a new BBC documentary with Gary Lineker.

The 29-year-old became England's all-time leading goalscorer on Tuesday by netting his 50th goal in the Three Lions' 2-0 victory over Switzerland at Wembley.

The striker, who surpassed Sir Bobby Charlton's 49-goal haul, has allowed television cameras to come into his home for one-hour documentary Rooney: The Man Behind The Goals.

Rooney is expected to talk about his life with wife Coleen and sons Kai, five, and two-year-old Klay.

"I have been approached many times about allowing the cameras into our lives and always said no, but now seems the right time," Rooney said.

"This film is not just about my goals, it's about the people I care about the most, my teammates, the people closest to me but most importantly, my family."

The documentary includes interviews with numerous football figures, including David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Steven Gerrard and David Moyes.
