Former Newcastle United keeper Pavel Srnicek attends fan's stag do

Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek joins a fan of the club for his stag do in Prague.

Former Newcastle United goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek surprised a fan of the club by attending his stag do in Prague.

The Czech Republic international was invited by one of Christopher Stronach's friends after he interviewed him for a book that he is writing about the club's 1995-96 season, in which they finished as Premier League runners-up.

The groom told the Newcastle Chronicle: "After Martin interviewed him, he asked him if he wanted to come to my stag do and he said yes. We didn't think he would come at first, so when he walked into the bar, we were in shock.

"He went around the group and shook everyone's hand. He didn't turn anyone down for anything and he was happy to have his photo taken.

"We were all talking about his playing days and someone brought up his red card against Leicester City, but he took it well. He was great fun. I have been telling everybody about it and it will definitely come up at the wedding!"

Srnicek made 150 appearances for the Magpies in a seven-year spell with the team.
