Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez 'appoints Spain-based scouts'

Newcastle United reportedly add Spain-based talent spotters to their scouting network.

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has reportedly added Spain-based talent spotters to his scouting network.

According to The Chronicle, the former Liverpool boss recently recruited full-time scouts in his homeland and in central Europe.

Existing scouts Mick Tait and Paul Baker are said to remain part of Benitez's plans, along with his talent spotters in Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia.

The Spaniard is said to be keen to add fresh talent to the club's academy, having released a number of Under-23 players last week and revealed plans to promote others.

Steve Nickson will remain in the post of head of recruitment, despite the reported scouting shake-up.
